Charissa.I.Am

Capturing the weird but cool is my specialty, so how perfect was it that I lived in Florida as a visual storyteller? I experienced hurricanes, dancing goats, mass murderers and waterskiing squirrels.

Mounting a camera on a bike or kayaking through flood waters are just some of the extremes I’ve gone to make storytelling photos. Immersing myself into people’s lives is a passion I discovered over 30 years ago.

For six years I was an award-winning and full-time photojournalist at the Daytona Beach News-Journal, a 100,000 circulation daily newspaper.

Since picking up a camera I have photographed for Seventeen Magazine, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, the Orlando Sentinel, Miami Herald, and the United States Department of Labor to name a few. I graduated with a B.S. in photojournalism from San Jose State University in 2002.

I am available for freelance work in Central Florida or anywhere in the universe.
